It all begins with the artists original model

Made of clay, wax, wood or other material. A hollow wax copy of the sculpture is made using a rubber mold capturing all the details .

Wax chasing spruing and gating

"Vents" (thin wax sticks) and "Gates" (thicker wax sticks) are joined to the wax with heated tools. Later in the casting process, the space occupied by sprues or gates become runways through which the metal flows and trapped gas escapes.
